What is 1 to Many texting?
The 1-to-Many SMS feature, or Group Texting, allows Associates to send a text message to a group of multiple recipients through the Salesfloor app. The objectives of this feature include the following:
- To allow associates to text a group of multiple recipients (up to 50) at once
- To support the use case where a customer wants to receive updates via SMS
- To support the use case where an associate wants to share an update to its subscribers via SMS
Who can use this Feature?
The 1-to-Many SMS feature is available to any retailer that has SMS enabled, via configuration. The feature is available within the Mobile app, both BYOD and MDM versions.
- Once the 1-to-many SMS messaging feature has been configured, retailers will automatically start to capture consent from customers through the various touchpoints:
Get My Update
- A retailer can manage their clients' consents directly through the customer contact card:
Composing and sending a message to multiple recipients
From the Salesfloor Hub, a secondary tab Text Messages will be available beside their Email Messages inbox. After selecting 'View All' within the tab, they will be brought to their text messaging inbox and a blue Compose button will be available at the bottom of the inbox.
Alternatively, clicking directly on the blue '+' icon in the bottom navigation bar of the Hub will also allow you to select Compose Text.
From the compose screen, the user can tap the blue “add icon” to see the list of possible recipients
The list of recipients is populated with all Contacts with a phone number. Contacts who have provided consent for Marketing SMS are identified with an icon in the list. Once the user selects a Contact who’s opted-in, only other contacts who’ve provided consent are eligible for selection.
NOTE: The max number of eligible selections is based on a config set by the retailer. Spamming recipients could result in carriers blocking the number.
If the user selects a recipient who has not opted-in, the are unable to select more and can only send a 1-1 message.
If the user attempts to select a mix of subscriber/non-subscriber recipients, they are presented with the following message:
Following a selection of multiple recipients and prior to returning to the text compose screen, the user is warned about a TCPA requirement about sending a message during ‘off-hours’ of a recipient.
NOTE: This is simply a warning and we do NOT block any messages programmatically
The user can filter the list of Contacts by their subscription flag:
