What do “requests” refer to?

Requests refers to the total cumulative number of requests that are made through an Associate's Storefront from your store.

In other words, this number represents the total number of Chat Requests, Appointment Requests, Personal Shopper Requests, & Customer Emails that are sent to your associates through their Storefronts.
